Kavala, due to its geographical position (with its large and natural port, unique from Thessaloniki to Alexandroupolis, with its dynamic hinterland, Eastern Macedonia and its always dominant position in the Balkan reality) plays

a central role not only within the narrow limits of its geographical area, but also in parts of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, on islands in the North Aegean and in addition in areas of other neighboring countries - mainly Bulgaria - that want to have economic activity and cooperation with Kavala (INTERREG programs, etc.).
