Meeting of the Regional Governor of the Hellenic Republic of Thessaloniki, Christodoulos Topsides, with the Minister of Health, Adonis Georgiadis – The focus is on the strengthening of health infrastructure and the modernization of the Kavala Hospital

 

As part of his official visit to Kavala, the Minister of Health, Mr. Adonis Georgiadis, held a working meeting with the Regional Governor of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, Mr. Christodoulos Topsides, in the presence of the Deputy Regional Governors of Kavala, Mr. Theodoros Markopoulos, the thematic Deputy Regional Governors, Mr. Alexandros Iosifidis and Mr. Giorgos Dalakouras, as well as the members of parliament of Kavala, Mr. Nikos Panagiotopoulos and Ms. Angeliki Delikari.

The meeting confirmed the excellent and continuous cooperation between the AMTH Region and the Ministry of Health, with a common goal of improving the quality of the health services provided for the benefit of citizens and visitors to the region.

Investments of 20 million euros in Medical Equipment

During the statements, the Regional Governor, Mr. Christodoulos Topsides, announced the successful submission of proposals for the call for proposals of 20 million euros through regional tools (NSRF), which was implemented in close cooperation with the 4th Health Region. This funding will be directly directed to:

• The modernization of the medical equipment of the Hospitals and Health Centers of the Region.
• Upgrading health building infrastructure.

Specifically, the Regional Governor Mr. Topsidis emphasized that "For us, health and primary care are an absolute priority. Our goal is for every citizen in our Region, from the most remote village and settlement, to enjoy the same quality health care as every other European citizen. At the same time, strong health structures are the main pillar for the tourism development we seek, offering safety to the thousands of tourists who visit us."

Inauguration of the New Emergency Department (ED) and New Coronary Angiographer

The Minister of Health's visit coincided with a particularly important day for Kavala, as the inauguration of the new Emergency Department (ED) and the new outpatient clinics of Kavala Hospital took place, while the new state-of-the-art coronary angiography machine, which is expected to save lives in the coming years in the wider region, was also put into operation.

For his part, the Minister of Health, Mr. Adonis Georgiadis, praised the work of the Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, emphasizing that the absorption of resources is moving at a completely satisfactory pace and within the timetables, while he did not fail to mention his long-standing cooperation and friendship with the Regional Governor of AMTh.
For his part, Mr. Georgiadis emphasized that "We have an idyllic cooperation with the AMT Region and Mr. Topsides. All requests for the strengthening of hospitals and health centers have been included. High-quality health services are essential both for residents and for tourism development, as tourists choose destinations with a safe health network. Problems exist so that we can face them with a good mood, always focusing on the patient."

Support also on broader issues in the region

On the sidelines of the meeting, the Deputy Governor of Kavala, Mr. Markopoulos, raised with Mr. Georgiadis and requested his assistance on critical development issues of the Kavala Regional State that require government assistance, such as:
1. The issue of the Tenagi Philippi.
2. The progress of the Kavala - Drama road axis (E61).
3. On the railway connection N. Karvalis – Toxotes
4. Kavala Perimeter

The meeting was also attended by the Commander of the 4th Regional Medical Center, Mr. Dimitris Boyatzidis, and representatives of the administration of the Kavala Medical Association.
After the meeting, the Regional Governor of AMTH, Mr. Christodoulos Topsides, presented the Minister of Health, Mr. Adonis Georgiadis with commemorative gifts from the region.
Immediately afterwards, the Regional Governor, Mr. Christodoulos Topsides, and the Minister of Health, Mr. Adonis Georgiadis, inaugurated the Emergency Department and the other new departments of the General Hospital of Kavala.
