PROGRAM OF THE CELEBRATION OF THE MEMORIAL OF SAINT PAUL THE APOSTLE
AND THE 113TH ANNIVERSARY
SINCE THE LIBERATION OF KAVALA, IN 1913.

For the celebration of the feast of the Patron Saint of the Apostle Paul and the 113th anniversary of the liberation of Kavala, in the year 1913, the following festive events are scheduled:

• LIGHTING of the streets, squares, the city's Fortress and all Public and Municipal Offices, Public Legal Entity Offices and Banks and Organizations, during the evening hours from the 28th to the 29th of June 2026.
• GENERAL FLAG HOSTING of all Public and Municipal Offices, Public Legal Entity Offices and Banks, Organizations, homes and private shops, from 8 am on the 28th until sunset on the 29th of June 2026.

WEDNESDAY JUNE 24, 2026

20:30 Musical event "Apostle Paul, the first step in Europe - 100 years of the Cathedral of Saint Paul the Apostle", in the outer courtyard of the Cathedral of Saint Paul. Organized by PAMT/PE of Kavala.

THURSDAY JUNE 25, 2026

19:00 Evening of the 20th Century Greek Orthodox Church on the theme "Kavala, the timeless apple of discord", in the Great Club. Exhibition of photographs and objects of the 20th Century Greek Orthodox Church, in the Great Club. Duration of the exhibition 25-30/6.

SUNDAY, JUNE 28, 2026

08:00 Official Flag Raising (at the new location) at Kanari Square.

11:00 Flag raising, memorial service and laying of wreaths by the Deputy Governor of Kavala, the Mayor of Kavala and the General Commander of the 20th Century, at the old city monument in Kamares, (near the old courthouse building), in memory of the raising of the Greek flag by the Fleet Admiral (P.N.), Antonios Kriezis in 1913.

19:00 Great Solemn Polyarchial Vespers at the Holy Cathedral of Saint Apostle Paul.

19:40 Arrival of dignitaries and presentation of honors by the ΥΧΤΘΜ, the Philharmonic of the Municipality of Kavala and the Military Music of the Supreme Military Command of Thrace (ASDIΘ).

20:30 Procession of the Holy Icon of Saint Apostle Paul through Omonia and Navarchou Pavlos Kountouriotou streets to the Monument of the Arrival of Apostle Paul in Neapolis (next to the Church of Saint Nicholas).

20:50 Artoklasia at the Monument of the Arrival of the Apostle Paul in Neapolis (next to the Church of Saint Nicholas).

21:30 Musical concert by the Military Band of the Supreme Military Command of Thrace (ASDITH), at Kanari Square.

MONDAY 29 JUNE 2026

07:00-11:00 Morning Prayer and Solemn, Polyarchial Divine Liturgy at the Cathedral of Saint Apostle Paul.

09:50 Arrival of dignitaries and presentation of awards by the ΤΧΤΘΜ.

10:55 Arrival of His Excellency the President of the Republic, Mr. Konstantinos An. Tasoulas.

11:00 Doxology for the celebration of the 113th anniversary of the liberation of Kavala, at the Holy Cathedral of Saint Apostle Paul. The day's solemnity will be delivered by Dr. Theodoros A. Markopoulos - Assistant Professor at the University of Thessaloniki - Deputy Governor of Kavala and Deputy Governor.

11:30 Memorial Service and Laying of the Wreath by His Excellency the President of the Republic, Mr. Konstantinos A. Tasoulas, at the city's Monument.

Observing a MINUTE OF SILENCE in memory of the gloriously fallen.

Singing of the National Anthem.

11:45 Visit of H.E. the President of the Republic, Mr. Konstantinos A. Tasoulas, to the Administration of the Regional Unit of Kavala.

19:30 Ceremony of proclamation of H.E. the President of the Republic, Mr. Konstantinos An. Tasoulas, as an Honorary Citizen of Kavala, in the Municipal Garden.

20:20 Official Flag Raising Ceremony at Kanari Square.

21:00 Archaeological Site of Philippi. Vigil in honor of the Holy Apostles in Ancient Philippi on the ruins of the early Christian Basilica I.

Regarding the Rites, the Holy Metropolis of Philippi, Neapolis and Thassos is requested to regulate. Issues concerning the formation, awarding of honors, order, movement of vehicles, etc., are requested to be regulated by the competent Military, Police, Port and Municipal Authorities.

We appoint Messrs. Philippia Kochliaridou and Sultana Farina, employees of the Regional Unit of Kavala, as well as an employee who will be appointed by the Municipal Police of the Municipality of Kavala, as masters of ceremonies.
