CELEBRATION OF NATIONAL STRUGGLES AND NATIONAL RESISTANCE
AGAINST NAZISM AND FASCISM – WORLD WAR II END DAY

For the Celebration of the National Struggles and the National Resistance against Nazism and Fascism, in the city of Kavala, the following festive events are scheduled:

• GENERAL FLAGSHIP from the eighth hour of the morning until sunset on May 9th.
• ILLUMINATIONS of all government branches, local authorities, as well as branches of public entities and banks, from sunset on May 9 until the morning hours of the next day.

SATURDAY 09 MAY 2026

08:00 Official flag raising at Freedom Square.

09:45 Price performance with the care of XXXTHM.

10:00 Official Doxology at the Cathedral of the Apostle Paul, officiated by His Eminence Metropolitan of Philippi, Neapolis and Thassos, Mr. Stefanos. The day's solemn service will be delivered by Mr. Pavlos Georgiadis, Lawyer, former President of the Municipal Council of Kavala.

10:45 Memorial Prayer and Laying of Wreaths at the Monument to the Heroes of the City by the Members of Parliament, the Governor of Eastern Macedonia - Thrace, the Deputy Governor of Kavala, the Mayor of Kavala, the General Commander of the 20th Armored Division, the representative of the rector of the University of Thessaloniki, the Police Director of Kavala, the Commander of the 2nd Regional Command of the Coast Guard, the Commander of the Kavala Fire Services.
The wreath will also be laid by the reserve war organizations and, on behalf of the National Resistance, by the representatives of all branches of the recognized resistance organizations based in the Regional Unit.

Regarding the Rites, the Holy Metropolis of Philippi, Neapolis and Thassos is requested to regulate accordingly. Issues concerning the formation, awarding of honors, order, movement of vehicles, etc., are requested to be regulated by the competent Military, Police and Municipal Authorities.
We appoint as masters of ceremonies Mrs. Philippia Kochliaridou and Sultana Farina, employees of the Regional Unit of Kavala, as well as an employee who will be appointed by the Municipal Police of the Municipality of Kavala.
