CELEBRATION PROGRAM FOR THE DAY OF NATIONAL STRUGGLES AND NATIONAL RESISTANCE AGAINST NAZISM AND FASCISM

IN THE REGIONAL UNIT OF DRAMA/

EASTERN MACEDONIA-THRACIE REGION

 

May 9, the day of the end of the Second World War, has been established as a day of celebration of the National Struggles and the National Resistance 1941-1944 against Nazism and fascism, for the practical payment of due honor to the warriors, fighters, dead and victims of the Greek People against the enemy occupation troops.

In this context, for the above celebration, the following events will be held in the Regional Unit of Drama/Region of Eastern Macedonia-Thrace, on Saturday, May 9, 2026:

 

– General flag display from eight o'clock in the morning until sunset, on May 9, 2026.

 

– Lighting of all government offices, local authorities, as well as the offices of public entities and banks, from sunset on May 9, 2026 until the morning hours of the next day.

 

Saturday May 9 2026

 

Time 11:00 a.m. Access to the Statue of Liberty, in the Municipal Garden of Drama:

-Start of ceremony

-Memorial prayer

-Deposition of wreaths

– Observing a minute of silence in memory of the gloriously fallen

– National Anthem

– End of ceremony

 

The Holy Metropolis of Drama is requested to arrange the memorial service.

The Municipality of Drama regarding flag decoration.

The Drama Police Department generally deals with matters related to maintaining order.

We appoint Mr. Thomas Petrides, an employee of the Municipality of Drama, as master of ceremonies.
