CELEBRATION OF THE NATIONAL ANNIVERSARY OF
MARCH 25, 1821

For the celebration of the National Anniversary of March 25, 1821, in the city of Kavala, the following festive events are scheduled:

• GENERAL FLAGSHIP throughout the territory, from eight o'clock in the morning of the 23rd to sunset of March 25, 2026.
• ILLUMINATIONS of all government branches, local authorities, public legal entities and banks, during the evening hours of March 24 and 25, 2026.

SUNDAY, MARCH 22, 2026

11:30 MEMORIAL WEDDING and WREATH-LAYING at the bust of Theodoros Kolokotronis by the Deputy Governor of Kavala, the Mayor of Kavala, the General Commander of the ΤΧΤΘΜ and the Peloponnese Association of Kavala Prefecture "O Kolokotronis".

12:00 Speech about Domna Visvizi by the member of the Thracian Home of Kavala Prefecture, Mrs. Christina Vamvouri, at the Kavala Guard Officers' Club.

THIRD 24 MARCH 2026

Ceremonial events for Primary and Secondary School Students for the National Anniversary.

11:30 Laying of wreaths at the city's Monument by departments of Primary and Secondary Education, the Second Chance School, as well as by the Scouts and Greek Girl Guides departments.

Wednesday 25 MARCH 2026

08:00 OFFICIAL FLAG RAISING at Eleftherias Square.

09:50 Awards ceremony organized by the XXXTHM and the Philharmonic of the Municipality of Kavala.

10:30 OFFICIAL DOXOLOGY at the Cathedral of the Apostle Paul, officiated by His Eminence Metropolitan of Philippi, Neapolis and Thassos Mr. Stefanos. The day's solemn sermon will be delivered by Mr. Charalambos Pagoulatos, President of the Peloponnese Association of Kavala Prefecture "O Kolokotronis".

11:15 MEMORIAL WEDDING and WREATH-LAYING at the city's Monument by the Government Representative, the Members of Parliament, the Regional Governor of AMT, the Deputy Regional Governor of Kavala, the Mayor of Kavala, the General Commander of the 20th Armored Division, the representative of the Rector of the University of Thessaloniki, the Director of the Kavala Police Directorate, the Commander of the 2nd Regional Command of the Coast Guard, the Commander of the Kavala Fire Services. Wreaths will also be laid by the reserve war organizations and, on behalf of the National Resistance, by the representatives of the branches of the recognized resistance organizations based in the prefecture.

Regarding the Rites, the Holy Metropolis of Philippi, Neapolis and Thassos is requested to make arrangements. We appoint Messrs. Philippia Kochliaridou and Sultana Farina, employees of the Regional Unit of Kavala, as well as an employee to be appointed by the Municipal Police of the Municipality of Kavala, as Masters of Ceremonies.
