CELEBRATION OF THE NATIONAL ANNIVERSARY OF OCTOBER 28, 1940

For the celebration of the National Anniversary of October 28, 1940, in the city of Kavala, the following festive events are scheduled:

• GENERAL FLAGSHIP throughout the Territory, from 8 am on October 26th until sunset on October 28th, 2025.
• ILLUMINATIONS of government branches, local government offices, as well as branches of public legal entities and banks, during the evening hours of October 27th and 28th, 2025.

27 OCTOBER 2025 MONDAY MONDAY

10:30 Memorial prayer and laying of wreaths in memory of Kavala Infantry Lieutenant Kritonas Konsoulidis, at the bust of the hero of the Greek-Albanian front, in the homonymous Konsoulidis Square (near the National Bank), by the Union of Army Retirees-Kavala Branch, the PAMT/PE of Kavala and the Municipality of Kavala.

11:30 Laying of wreaths at the city's Monument by departments of Primary Education, Secondary Education, the Second Chance School and Tertiary Education, as well as by the Scouts and Greek Girl Guides departments, arriving led by professors, teachers and rank-and-file.

TUESDAY OCTOBER 28, 2025

08:00 OFFICIAL FLAG RAISING at Eleftherias Square.

09:45 Awards ceremony organized by the XXXTHM and the Philharmonic of the Municipality of Kavala.

10:15 OFFICIAL DOXOLOGY at the Cathedral of the Apostle Paul, officiated by His Eminence Metropolitan of Philippi, Neapolis and Thassos, Mr. Stefanos. The day's solemn service will be delivered by Mrs. Marianna Lepida, Teacher of the 12th Primary School of Kavala.

11:00 MEMORIAL WEDDING and WREATH-LAYING at the city's Monument by the Government Representative, the Members of Parliament, the Regional Governor of Eastern Macedonia - Thrace, the Deputy Regional Governor of Kavala, the Mayor of Kavala, the General Commander of the 20th Armored Division, the Rector of the University of Thessaloniki, the Police Director of Kavala, the Commander of the 2nd Regional Command of the Coast Guard, the Commander of the Fire Services of Kavala. Wreaths will also be laid by the reserve war organizations and, on behalf of the National Resistance, by representatives of all branches of the recognized resistance organizations based in the Regional Unit.

The announcer for the wreath laying and the parade is Ms. Aikaterini Drakou, a graduate of Physical Education.

Regarding the Rites, the Holy Metropolis of Philippi, Neapolis and Thassos is requested to make arrangements. We appoint as celebrants Mrs. Philippia Kochliaridou and Sultana Farina, employees of the Regional Unit of Kavala, as well as an employee to be appointed by the Municipal Police of the Municipality of Kavala.

12:00 PARADE on the Coastal Avenue, from the height of the building of the Regional Unit of Kavala to the islet where the Statue of Stylianos Mavromichalis is located, of students from Primary and Secondary Education schools, Organizations, Associations, Scouts, Guides and Army Units.

17:00 FLAG RANKING at Freedom Square.
