According to the Fire Risk Forecast Map issued by the General Secretariat of Civil Protection of the Ministry of Climate Crisis & Civil Protection (civilprotection.gov.gr), for tomorrow, Friday, August 14 , 2026, a very high fire risk (risk category 4) is predicted for the Rhodope Mountain Region.

Based on this, the measure of prohibition of passage, stay and circulation of persons and vehicles (ADA: P9ΨΗ7ΛΒ-DMN) is implemented, with the exception of the cases referred to in article 130 of law 4926/2022 (persons residing or working in the areas of article 129, exclusively for their movement to and from their residence or work, as well as persons moving within the road network), within the following forests, woodlands, parks and groves:

1. Forest of the Nymfaia area of ​​Komotini, Municipality of Komotini.
2. Mesis Forest, in the coastal zone of Mesis in the Municipality of Komotini.
3. "Prophet Elias" Recreation Area, area west of the settlement of Iasmos, Municipality of Iasmos.
4. Suburban Sapon Grove, of the Municipality of Maroneia Sapon.
5. Forest of the Touristic Himeros area, of the Municipality of Maroneia, Sapes.
6. Coastal zone forest, in the location of Kapsala, Imeros, in the Municipality of Maroneia, Sapes.
7. Kryoneri coastal zone forest, Municipality of Maroneia, Sapes

Also, the Independent Civil Protection Directorate of PAMTH recommends that citizens be particularly careful and avoid actions in the countryside that can cause a fire through negligence , such as burning dry grass and branches or cleaning residues, the use of machinery that causes sparks such as circular saws, welding devices, the use of outdoor barbecues, smoking bees, throwing lit cigarettes, etc. It is also recalled that during the fire season, burning fields is prohibited.

In the event that they notice a fire, citizens are asked to immediately notify the Fire Department by calling 199.
