The AMESOS program for training students in first aid, CPR and the use of a defibrillator was successfully completed

The training program for students of the Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace in first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation and the use of an automated external defibrillator was completed with complete success, which was implemented in collaboration with the Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, the Emergency Medical Services and the Regional Directorate of Education.
The program with the characteristic title AMESOS, which began about eight months ago, exceeded initial expectations, as approximately 4.500 students from schools throughout the Region, from Ormenio to Kato Nevrokopi and from Samothrace to Thassos, were trained. The program concluded today at a special event at the Komotini Music High School in the presence of the school's students.
The Regional Governor of the AMT, Mr. Christodoulos Topsides, expressed his satisfaction with the completion of the action, emphasizing that the Region is consistently investing in the new generation.
"We are truly proud of the completion of this program. We continue, we do not stop here. Our children, the new generation, are the people of the future and we must give them as many resources as possible," noted the Regional Governor.
Mr. Topsidis thanked EKAB, its executives, the Regional Directorate of Education, the teachers, the schools and the parents who supported the children's participation in the action. At the same time, he emphasized that the Region will continue to implement programs related to health, education, culture, the environment and more generally issues related to the daily life and quality of life of citizens.
For his part, the authorized advisor on Education issues of the AMTH Region, Stelios Katsogridakis, spoke of a program with a substantial impact on schools and students.
"Within a short period of time, we managed, with the cooperation of EKAB, to train 4.500 students. The children acquired new skills. They now know how to intervene in a critical moment, they know how to use a defibrillator, first aid and CPR," said Mr. Katsogridakis, emphasizing the contribution to the success of the effort of the Thematic Deputy Regional Governor for Health and Family Policy, Mr. Giorgos Dalakouras.
Mr. Katsogridakis emphasized that students, especially high school students, are now coming out of the program with practical knowledge that can prove life-saving. As he said, many students and teachers described the action as “the best lesson we have ever taken.”
The AMT Region is determined to continue similar actions in the coming years, so that each new generation of students acquires useful life skills. The program is part of a broader network of initiatives for young people, including road safety actions, educational programs and the activation of the Regional Youth Council.
Their thanks for the decisive assistance offered by the AMTH Region and for the special interest shown by the Regional Governor, Mr. Christodoulos Topsides, were expressed by both the Director of the Regional Directorate of Education, Ms. Marigoula Kosmidou, and the EKAB manager for the implementation of the program, Mr. Athanasios Nalbantis.
