Participation of PAMT in the International Symposium of the ANIMA Investment Network in Athens

The Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace attended the anniversary International Symposium of the ANIMA Investment Network, entitled “Mediterranean 2036: Future-Proofing Economic Prosperity”, which took place in Athens and was co-organized by Enterprise Greece and the ANIMA Investment Network, on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the network.
The AMTH Region was represented by Mr. Odysseas Vourvoukelis, representative of the PAMTH's Extroversion Office, conveying the Region's interest in strengthening international cooperation, promoting entrepreneurship, exploiting investment opportunities and connecting Eastern Macedonia and Thrace with wider Mediterranean development networks.
The presence of PAMT at the Symposium is part of the strategy of the Regional Governor of AMTH, Mr. Christodoulos Topsides, to strengthen the extroversion and institutional networking of the region, in fields related to regional development, innovation, entrepreneurship, sustainable economy, agri-food, tourism, energy and cross-border cooperation.
The Symposium brought together in Athens representatives of investment and development agencies, international organizations, clusters, institutional partners and experts from 17 countries of the Mediterranean and the wider region. The focus of the work was the need for the Mediterranean to move from identifying challenges to implementing specific actions, with mature investment plans, resilient infrastructure, stronger supply chains and new cooperation mechanisms.
Of particular interest for the AMTH Region are the themes that emerged at the Symposium and concern connectivity, strengthening the investment climate, the preparation of mature projects, innovation, climate resilience and the new role of investment attraction bodies as strategic partners between public administration, entrepreneurship and investors.
In the context of the contacts held in Athens, the positive interest in further cooperation with the AMTH Region was confirmed, as well as the possibility of exploring the participation of PAMT in the next meeting of the network, which is expected to take place in Cyprus. This prospect can be another step towards strengthening the presence of the Region in international platforms for cooperation and exchange of know-how.
The Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, through the Outreach Office, seeks to utilize such international events not simply as opportunities for institutional presence, but as tools for substantial networking, promoting the comparative advantages of the region and seeking collaborations with a practical development impact.
Participation in the ANIMA Symposium highlighted that Eastern Macedonia and Thrace can play an active role in the new Mediterranean map of cooperation, leveraging its geostrategic position, its productive potential, its cross-border characteristics and the possibilities that open up in cutting-edge sectors for the future of the region.
