Two events in the Kavala Regional Office for Chronically Ill People and Caregivers: Information and physical activity

Within the framework of the program "Support for chronically ill people and their caregivers", implemented by the Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, through the Directorate of Public Health and Social Welfare, with the support of Higher Than Everest, two actions will be held in the Regional Unit of Kavala, on Wednesday 12 and Sunday 16 November 2025. The actions are addressed to all those who have experienced, either personally or as caregivers, but even as supporters at a family or friendly experiential level, the experience of a chronic disease.

Information and awareness day, Wednesday, November 12

On Wednesday, November 12th at 19:00 PM, in the hall of the "Great Club" building of the Municipality of Kavala, an informative awareness-raising action will be held with the following themes: Contact with nature - a forgotten human necessity. Psychological support as an absolutely essential factor of support for the patient with a chronic disease. Integrating mild & individually adaptable physical exercise into everyday life. Implementation of scientifically up-to-date healthy eating protocols as well as the general promotion of well-being. In a climate of dialectical interaction, a round table will be held focusing on the person who fell ill but daily fights every form of chronic disease and on how small, gradual changes are the ones that bring about big and substantial results in our lives.

Speakers: Lambrina Doulgeri, dietitian - nutritionist BSc, MSc - specializing in intestinal microbiome, Regina Makedou, graduate, physical education and sports professional, Anna Frantzola, psychologist, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, systemic - family psychotherapist, Kiki Tsakaldimi, mountaineer, 1st Greek woman on Mount Everest in 2017.

Hiking and physical activity, Sunday, November 16

On Sunday, November 16, a gentle hike and physical activity will take place on the trails of the wider archaeological area of ​​Mount Ismaros – Ancient Theater of Maronia. Participants will have the opportunity to live a unique hiking experience in the autumn landscape of the area. This is an easy route with comfortable walking on good terrain. The route is suitable for beginners and fully adapted to the expected heterogeneous dynamics of the group, with a sufficient number of companions to make it enjoyable and feasible for each individual participant (patient, former patient or caregiver).

Participation is free for everyone and transportation will be provided by chartered buses.

Meeting point: Kavala Bus Station & time 08:30 a.m.

Hiking start: 10:30am

End of activities and return to the bus: 13:30 p.m.
