 20KM ROAD RACE

"FOLLOWING THE STEPS OF THE APOSTLE PAUL"

The SEVAS of Kavala, under the auspices of the Holy Metropolis of Philippi, Neapolis & Thassos and in collaboration with the Regional Unit of Kavala and the Municipality of Kavala, is organizing a running race "20 km. In the footsteps of St. Paul".

Date of Event : Sunday, May 27, 2012

Venue : Kavala- Lydia

Route length: 20km (Kavala, old Egnatia, Agios Sylas, Amygdaleonas cross, Krinides, Ancient Theater of Philippi, Baptistery)

Starting point: Monument of Apostle Paul at the site of the Church of St. Nicholas, Kavala

Start time: 9:30am

The race is being held for the sixth time this year with a continuous upward trend in participation. Competitors will run a route that the Apostle Paul walked 2000 years ago from the port of the ancient city of Philippi Neapolis, the present-day city of Kavala, to Philippi where he baptized Saint Lydia of Philippi, the first European Christian, and whose feast day is celebrated on May 20.
